LEARNERSHIP IN FREIGHT FORWARDING AND CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE (NQF3)
Description
This learnership qualification is developed with the aim to provide learners with a conceptual framework and skills necessary to perform routine functions within the Freight Forwarding and Customs Compliance environment. It is intended to equip learners to operate cross-functionally within the Freight Forwarding and Customs Compliance environment of the International Logistics industry. The learnership is the entry-level qualification required for the international FIATA Diploma.
The learnership offers school leavers an opportunity to embark on the first stage of a career in Freight Forwarding and prepares them through focused work integrated learning activities for an entry level position.
Learning outcomes
- To equip the individual with skills required for the safe handling of freight and adhering to customs Compliance regulations
- Outline the legal environment of a selected industry
- Apply geographic principles in mapping a trade route
- Describe and apply the regulations and documentary requirements which govern international trade
- Apply basic invoicing and accounting principles
- Describe and apply the Customs and Excise Act
- Explain the administration of a freight forwarding and clearing operations
- Perform processes and procedures required for the administration of import and export transactions
- Comply with procedures in respect of lost, discrepant and damaged cargo
- Generate invoices, credit notes and landed costings

- Top achieving Grade 12 learners who are well-spoken and professional with above average marks in Mathematics, English and Geography
